Transition from Gravit?

Very confused - Gravit Transition / Compatibility: Corel bought Gravit designer and shut down the product. I downloaded all of my files thinking the new version with Corel would be fine. #1 - which of your products is the old Gravit Vector Tool? #2 - is your version NOT compatible with all the files I created in Gravit that you asked me to download? I am trying to open my old Gravit files on Corel Go and can not. This is 6 years of work lost!!!

Hi @erikayers,

I’m really sorry about it.

To answer your questions:

  1. The old Gravit Designer/Vector tool is not available anymore under a different Corel product name. Corel Vector was the continuation of Gravit Designer, but that too has now been discontinued.
  2. Unfortunately, the .gvdesign file format is proprietary and can only be opened in Gravit Designer or Corel Vector. No other Corel products (such as CorelDRAW or CorelDRAW Go) are able to open these files.

Ps: Older versions of Gravit Designer (prior 3.3.3) desktop can still work with those files, but unfortunately you won’t be able to download it from Corel Website.

When we first announced the end of support, we strongly recommended exporting your designs into SVG or PDF so that they could be safely opened in other programs going forward (guide here: How to Export/Save Your Files).

If the files you downloaded are already in SVG or PDF, you should be able to open them in CorelDRAW Go or many other design tools. But if they are still in the .gvdesign format, I’m truly sorry, but there is no other way to convert them now that the product has shut down.

I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, and I wish I had a better solution.

Again, I completely empathize with how disappointing this must be, and I’m truly sorry for the impact.
